I got an old beater 1999 Honda Civic. Picked it up for cheap and have been driving it the last year... it is honestly the best car I have owned. I put tons of miles on it, kept up with all the oil changes, and have absolutely LOVED the gas milage on it. I will probably always consider buying a Honda before I buy any other brand of car. Recently, the American car companies have been fighting to get the loyalty back in their court. It has been a hard battle when spending a few thousand more can get you a Japanese imported forever-running Honda, Toyota, or Subaru. They get better gas milage, have fewer problems, and are common enough that parts are comparable in price to the local ones. (all the littler parts are manufactured in China anyway) Well, one American Car has my attention... THE NEW CHEVY VOLT - I think most of is saw at least one of their commercials during the Super Bowl; and honestly, the car looked a little cool and a little weird all at the same time. I do remember GM getting a bailout and I do remember the fuss that we all shared when Detroit canned thousands of people during the economic hardships we faced over the last couple years, but I also remembered the cool cars that GM was coming out with and how much I like Chevy Trucks and Cadillac Escalades. In any case, I saw a newer Volt driving down the freeway and I thought to myself "You should look into that." Today I looked at it and found out that instead of using an engine to power the car, it actually uses a Battery System with a small gasoline powered generator. It runs up to 35 miles on a charge and then has enough gas to run it a few hundred miles on a tank using the generator. If you get the charger for your house, then it only takes about 4 hours to charge, without being about 10 hours to fill up the batteries. With it's sleek style and aerodynamic body, it could seriously take over the Prius as reigning champ for hybrids. I have always been interested in alternative fuels, and the recent raise in gasoline prices is making me re-think what I need to do to save my wallet from the Ever-Wideneing Black Hole that my gas tank makes in the wallet, and also how I can cut down on my fossil fuel consumption to save the world one day at a time. Honestly, American's use way to much fossil fuels, including Natural Gas, Coal, and Gasoline. I think getting a newer hybrid should be the direction I move towards in the future, and my next car could just be the New Chevy Volt. I think it could be a great vehicle to show that our DJ company is committed to saving the environment. Check It out at: http://www.chevrolet.com/volt-electric-car/
