So last week at the Wing Nutz Karaoke show, we found out that one of the servers there had a massive fire at her home the previous weekend and she lost EVERYTHING. She literally had the clothes on her back. ( I saw pictures of her house after the fire... there was not one thing salvagable) She even lost 2 brand new puppies she recently got, and after seeing their pictures, I was even more heart broken for her. We decided to take up a collection of spare money for the evening and promised to match every penny that was donated. We ended getting about $100 from the crowd, and were grateful for every penny. The karaoke crowd in Orem is seriously one of the best I have ever associated myself with, and to think that people were so generous in a time of need makes me feel good inside. Wing Nutz and Rock The Mic Entertainment sincerely thank you all for your donations during this sad time. We know that life moves on, but having some help along the way makes things move on a lot easier.
I actually really felt for the girl, being that the childhood house I grew up in was victim to arson almost 2 years ago. I didn't live there at the time, and had most of my stuff out of there, but my father almost everything. He is still in the process of rebuilding, but hopefully it will be done soon, and after seeing the plans and what has happened, it is going to be better in the end.

There is always new music coming out on the scene, and we at Rock The Mic Entertainment look for every opportunity to acquire this music, not only to play, but also versions for karaoke and remixed versions to dance to. Recently, Coldplay dropped a new album called Mylo Xyloto and it is one of the best albums I have heard from them. They released a couple singles, but the one that hit me in all the right places was a track called "Paradise." It showed me the band's ability to branch out and start doing more complex and interesting instrumentals, specifically leaning into more of a club/dance genre. The first time I heard that song and the beginning of the song drops into the intro chorus melody, I was floored. So freaking awesome!!! I am especially happy about the remixed version by Freddie le Grand. It is right on the money! Click here to Watch The Video on YouTube!
Many of you my not think that having karaoke at a wedding would be fun. I honestly thought the same thing until I had a client request it. can I just say that it was SO FUN!! It was also interesting that the couple actually met at the Orem Applebee's Karaoke Night we were doing at the time, and they fell in love and got married doing karaoke shows. It was a no brain-er that they would have it at their reception. I can honestly say it was one of the funnest karaoke shows I have ever done. People loved to sing, the bride sang to the groom, the groom sang to the bride, and people were loving it. If you want karaoke at your wedding, hit us up. I promise you will love it too.

We have done a few joints up there in the past, but we would love some new shows in Salt Lake City!!! If you are venue looking for karaoke in the Greater Salt Lake Area (SLC, Davis County, Utah County, Provo, Orem, Lindon, Lehi, Saratoga Springs, Draper, Sandy, or anywhere else for that matter, please feel free to call us or email us and we can get some people to Rock The Mic in Your Joint!!! Last night was one of the best shows we have had at Wing Nutz in Orem. Karaoke time came, the restaurant started to pick up and we got it going... the singers were great, the crowd was loving them, and we had a blast. Lights, Sounds, Food, Fun, and of course, Pitchers of Beer flowing like the winter run-off in the rivers of Utah this year. It was good to see so many familiar faces from the people who attended our first show. Sam, Boss, and many of the crew are coming to see us. Sam, even though I don't allow swearing, your Cee-Lo was spot on! Seriously, if you haven't been to Rock The Mic with us at Wing Nuts in Orem on Wednesday nights, get your butts OUT THERE!!! It will be awesome.
So, it has come to our attention that Wing Nutz in Orem is a GREAT venue to be doing karaoke at. While we've been at places that have a little friendlier setup space for the singing area, there is one small factor that gets me going for this show: THE CROWD!!! Every Weds night it feels like a family, and a bunch of cool people get together and sing. Even if you suck at your song, or if the genre isn't the favorite on the list, people still clap, yell and cheer when a singer finishes their selection. It is just a good, solid crowd that never disappoints. You should really come out and Rock The Mic with us!
_This is the best news ever! Every Wednesday at Wing Nutz in Orem, UT is Karaoke Night!!! 9pm to Close gets you the freshest group of singers in the county, and they got food, drinks, and beer! Awesome specials, awesome crowd, and the love to sing, remember that Wednesday night is the new karaoke night in Utah County! As I am finishing up the karaoke show in Orem at Applebee's, I couldn't help notice that one of the best singers I have ever heard showed up and wanted to sing. Her name is Jenn Blosil and she is one of the most talented individuals I have ever heard. I have been doing karaoke all over the state, and in many cases I have the opportunity to hear some amazing, radical singers. I should mention that I have seen and heard Jenn many times before, but tonight she seemed on fire. She sang a first song with her sister. It was a Demi Lovato song, beautifully displaying her pitch (and her wonderful sister, Chelsea's too), and they took it to a new level with every time I hear them together.
While I had many singers waiting, I had Jenn approach me and asked if there was room. Knowing there was almost nothing, I told her if she stuck around, I would get her on the stage again to perform. She wanted to do a solo, one that would show her true voice. She chose to sing a song that was performed by Destiny's Child, but mostly was a showcase of Beyonce's talent. Jenn got on the stage and I swear to you there was not one person within eyeshot that wasn't fixated on her, not one person within earshot talking. It was as if the world stopped, slowed down, and took a moment out of its' day to listen to the beautiful melodies coming from the vocal chords of this 19 year-old star. She finished the song, and everyone cheered. I sat stunned. I normally say something after singers finish up, but I could not believe how utterly flawless she had sung the song. I was in shock that she is as good as my ears can sense. She is literally one of the greatest I have ever had the opportunity to listen to, ever! Jenn Blosil is one amazing girl and I would hope that you check out not only her, but her sister also. We have been doing the show there for a while now, but the resort closed down for the Thanksgiving weekend, being that there isn't much snow and people like to be home with family. It started slow, but by the end of the night we had about 30 people having fun and Rocking The Mic, which if you have been to the owl bar you know seems pretty full. One of our own, Kid Carolina, came up and started singing some of the good old hits: The Rolling Stones, Neil Diamond, stuff like that. Out from the back comes none other than Robert Redford with his wife. He owns the resort and pretty much half the mountain, and can be seen from time to time a around the resort. They came and spoke to Mike and I briefly about his wonderful voice, singing, and the cool DJ program we were using. Both of them were very cordial and pleasant people, the kind of people you could have hour-long conversations without an ounce of effort. It was a good time the rest of the night, and we finished at 1:00 AM !!! That's how the karaoke world goes I guess. Remember that Wednesday nights is Karaoke Night at the Owl Bar. I should also plug they have poker tournaments on Thursdays starting at 7pm. No money, a point system, but the winner could potentially play in the world series of poker!!! |
